Week 4 Round Up

We have crossed the half way point and that sneaky rascal Alex is still sitting top of the league. Can anyone topple this titan!? Maybe that is why I had the urge to throw his Wraithknight across the room on Tuesday.

Let's see what happened this week and tomorrow or Monday I will get the Week 5 Predictions into the ether.

Also chatgpt started throttling me so only limited AI stupidity today.

Alex V Tom - 64-44

Prediction: Alex

Boom! Smashed this one and the rampaging Wraithknight continues to take names left, right and centre. Has anyone tried actually killing it? I am going to kill it, even it loses me the game.

Alex has bounced around with Windriders and his staple league list and the WK list is winning out. Managing to withstand the brutality of Tom's horde of chopping maniacs. Not a big score though but as it is Burden I will let him off.

I was going to do them all in Sora but took way too long.
I was going to do them all in Sora but took way too long.

Jack V Mike - 77-87

Prediction: Mike

Bile clearly injected this lot with something better than Tom's lads. They got the job done here and Jack couldn't quite deal with the wild board control of thirty tough guys charging down at your face.

Jack has been requesting an army change conveniently since Starshatter was nerfed and Mike wants to escape melee back to the safety of pew pew. But both were slammed down WITHOUT even a vote taking place so they are stuck with their poor life choices.

Max V Sean - 84-63

Prediction: Sean

Well well well, I am sure glad I bigged Max's army up a bit in my prediction because they have only gone and beaten Sean's undying xenos!

This has catapulted Max into a position to attack Alex's Aeldari next round and could he be the hero we deserved?

As is normal Max had pretty much fuck all on the table by the end of it but his Deathwatch got the job done and hunted those metallic Egyptians to extinction! Maybe re rolls are quite good? Who knew?

Sam V Chris - 66-58

Prediction: Sam

Never any doubt mate. Certainly not at the top of T5 when I realised I was going to be down a boat load of points going into my turn at the bottom of 5. Certainly not when I was desperately calculating the secondaries I needed to pull and how much guarding I could manage. Certainly not when my Vindicator blew up and killed my Ballistus, my remaining anchors in the centre. Certainly not when I drew two unscorable secondaries and redrew for one partially scorable.

Just smash out 22 primary in the final turn mate. Easy.

It was a fun game and Chris' 700 points of indirect made me not feel guilty about running 11 tanks at him. Yeah Scions pick up whatever they look at but they die easy too. My Ballistus and Vindicators spent the first half of the game plodding forward under a hail of ordinance, being chipped away, until the survivors could see the entrenched Guard position and... actually didn't do much. I think I killed one indirect pieces.

However if you pick up the Scions the teeth goes out of the list into armour and I was able to scrape a victory here. Never any doubt.

Ross V Angus - 75-59

Prediction: Ross

OK so although I got the prediction right, in all fairness, I also predicted a ruthless, merciless affair and losing by 16vp isn't that. So I will retract my usual Angus bashing (for this paragraph only) and say it was a decent effort against a bunch of high OC tanks who can guard all day long.

Tsons currently sitting pretty low in the meta, with a high skill floor. Angus is hopeful that his lads will only get a 10% points hike in the dataslate.

Craig V Mark - 68-52

Prediction: Craig

I asked Mark how his game went when I saw him wandering the room. His response was "Fucking shit. Death Guard just don't die." Concise and accurate, exactly what I would expect from an Ultramarines player.

This result unfortunately means three losses on the trot for Mark after a shining start and i know he wants a wildcard right away but with the dataslate looming will it be a waste?? Craig has no choice as he spunked his wildcards pretty much immediately.

Kyle V Dan - 48-71

Prediction: Dan

Kyle is absolutely wallowing with a measly 50% winrate. A percentage Angus only dreams of on his most delusional days (new paragraph so it's cool). Harry once had a 50% winrate, then he started playing sighted people...

Now Kyle has to get his shit together and burn the fuck out of some heretics...or Space Wolves, next week.

Dan is happily plodding along gently drawing his hand through grass while running a Land Raider.

Neil V Freddie - 31-54

Prediction: Freddie

Hold on your fucking face guys Freddie won an actual game of Warhammer 40,000 on Hobby Henchmen grounds! Pack your bags we are off to Mexico and Chris is paying, he promised he would when Freddie eventually won.

OK so it turns out Freddie is complete shit, it hasn't helped his HHelo much but maybe this is the start of a redemption arc for him. It would be funny if he smashed the next few games on Tuesdays and went 0-5 at the GT in a fortune flipping twist of fate.

*Neil Freddie isn't bad by the way so I am not dumping on you here he just has been doing shit on club nights for a while!

Ben V Gray - 50-78

Prediction: Gray

So we aren't sure which identity has asserted control, was Gray at fault for the disastrous start to the League or was it Gary? I am not sure we will ever know, until it's too late.

Ben levelled a very serious accusation at Gary/Gray during the course of this game - that Gary/Gray tailored his list to Ben, as it was such a radical change. I have spoken with the HH Judicial Committee and we can confirm that running four big Chaos Knights is considered the opposite of tailoring and more akin to Hari-Kiri in league aspirations. Dismissed.
