Week 2 Round Up

Week 2 baby! My journey to finishing in second place for the 4th time in a row continues and I just can't wait.
We had a couple of drops this week due to illness (a clear lack of faith in the divine light of the Throne) and I am awarding 80-20 victories to the other parties when this happens. I have found that 100-0 or narrow victories destabalise the long term health of the table.
We do have a MASSIVE upset this week though...read on to find out more.
Gray V Angus - 20-80
Prediction: Gray win
A huge surprise for everyone with a result for the sailing Scotsman and his devious Sons! Yes Gray didn't turn up but honestly I think we can all take this a moral victory for Angus. Angus gets one hand off the wooden spoon and Gray has to start getting some actual points as he is sitting squarely at the bottom.
Also this might be my favourite bit of "art" I have added to any blog so far.

Neil V Max - 20-80
Prediction: Max win
OK so this was also a non-game but I need the stats to back up my prediction machine so I am taking it. Fortunately Max and Angus got a game against each other and I had the joy of hearing, multiple times, "shit I forgot to use XXXsuper important ritualXXX" from Angus. At least Tsons aren't an army that require exact precision...

Dan V Ben - 87-55
Prediction: Dan
Another tick for my guesswork but more importantly Dan got to bring his DG Land Raider out to play. One of the things we know Dan prizes, more than anything else, in Warhammer is mathematical efficiency in his units so this was a left field pick from him. It looks great to see it out in the armour train though!
Ben was also using a Wildcarded army after deciding that the previous, bonkers, list was in fact bonkers. Bringing back a more standard WE army after spending the weekend swinging around within the angry man himself.
There was a lot of ranged firepower here for Dan to slowly bring down the WE on Purge and that seems to have taken its toll.

Craig V Kyle - 67-75
Prediction: Craig
Well I was wrong that it would take Kyle any time at all to get up to speed with the new GK list - he came out flaming and hammer bonking things. A nice close game though and it sounds like Purifiers put in some heavy lifting. It looks as though the silver Land Raider is going to be staying on the shelf a while longer!
Craig is now onto his second Wildcard because he is a maverick but I do predict him turning up at my door, late at night, openly weeping and begging me for an additional wildcard. Don't worry folks - even though Craig's supple body will tempt me I will hold strong and tell him no.

Chris V Freddie - 83-80
Prediction: Chris
Throughout the first two hours of this game Freddie looked very happy and Chris repeatedly said it was a massacre. Chris was forced to bring on his two TC's at the back of his own deployment due to the mass Blood Claw push coming through his front lines. It looked done and dusted.
It turns out that Blood Claws still die pretty easily though and it was slowly turned around by the sacrifice of many Kriegsmen. Interesting Teams list from Freddie though as the pressure is quite intense and I can see if being really hard to push a big win against them.
Also as a side note this puts Freddie on his sixth consecutive club night loss. Spectacular stuff.

Sam V Ross - 80-20
Prediction: Ross
This is the verbatim Whatsapp conversation I had with Ross on the Monday before our game: Ross: Hey handsome. I am feeling really vulnerable right now and your previous domination of me has me scared. Sam: Yo prick, man up. What you scared of? Ross: If you destroy me on the tabletop, just like last time, I am concerned it will impact my relationship with Boxy and I cannot risk never being within his firm embrace again. Sam: I get that but you might beat me, unlikely I know but there is a chance. Ross: That's just impossible and we both know it. Your tactical acumen and lean muscular body are just too much for me to handle. I am getting married in March and I can't stray into your arms again, I think it is best we went our separate ways on Tuesday. But specifically only Tuesday - after that we can continue spending alone time together. Sam: Please stop harassing me outside of club nights.

Tom V Mark - 96-48
Prediction: Tom
A bit of a blowout here for Marky Mark and he had plans all along! Everything seemed to be going smoothly - Aggressors prepared for the counter punch, Land Raider tanking an inordinate amount of shooting. Then everything just kinda died.
It looked a little like Mark didn't push his initial advantage aggressively enough and force Tom to sit in his deployment zone but it is a lesson learned and added to the Codex Astartes.

Jack v Sean - 67-97
Prediction: Jack
Jack has fully let me down here and I plan to curb stomp him in our match just to show my rage. Pathetic. Also well done Sean.
I think Sean's double C'tan list has convinced Jack he needs them, or some wraiths. I genuinely do like the makeup of Sean's list, even though I have no clue about awakened. The Deceiver pretty much merked TSK here which is a fantastic thing to witness both physically and narratively.

Alex V Mike - 97-64
Prediction: Mike
My predictions about Alex continue to be wrong - I am assuming it is just me being really hopeful he doesn't dominate us all in as brutal a way has he did last year. Turns out he might know what he is doing....prick. I am banking on the Codex having so many delicious options his mind just implodes and he becomes a Harry.
I know for a fact some Cultists punched a Wave Serpent and and Avatar to death in this game (the last wound is what counts). I therefore assume a Wildcard is coming from Mike for 150 Cultists. In actuality I believe a Wildcard is actually coming but it will instead be a commitment towards even more choppy boys, which I respect.
