Week 3 is done and free list changes are upon us! I will go over people’s changes in another post but hopefully this is an opportunity for tweaks or full redesigns that keep things hot for the second half.

Tony V Harry – 70-73

Harry has fully upset my perfect prediction machine and gets off the zero wins parade.

From what I saw this was very murdery from both sides and I am pretty sure that fucking Night Scythe was still alive at the end as well. Magnus was also alive for longer than I have ever seen him in a game from Harry to that probably helped!

Tony forgetting he had a 3″ DS was a bit of a boo boo – it could almost be argued this is the best strat in the Necron book.

Tony, Harry, Rob and Ben all on 1 win so far so it is quite close, especially as I will likely lose to Gary next (and blame the codex of course).

Now it is just Leo with the zero wins – but did that change this week?

Sam V Leo – 97-51

No.

It was actually quite a lot closer than that score suggests – it only really broke end of T4 and the mass shooty murder Leo’s list puts out nearly took me out at the knees by T2.

Leo baited me out on both flanks, hoping to counter with Fabius/Chosen and Lucius/Noise and I wasn’t about to play it safe – I wanted to see what those mad lads could do!

Wincing as his Havocs rolled too many 5s on their Lascannons I weathered a round of them and triple Forgefiend, losing quite a few golden boys. Kyria Draxus and guard did manage to plink 8 wounds of a Forgefiend from RANGED, which was wonderful.

Then his Chaos favoured champions clapped into me. Lucius hits like a little girl and was immediately murdered, alongside his Noisey buddies. Bile and his Chosen got a Guard + BC down to 2 guys but they clapped back and….killed 2 dudes.

Luckily, in what is likely to be his last heroic act of 10th, Trajann made an 11″ charge into Bile, chopping them to fuck.

I was twice able to consolidate from Forgefiend deaths into Havocs so I think a good lesson was learned there. The Warp Talons and Raptors turned up behind my lines, murdering my sweet sisters and scoring decent secondary before the chonkier ones got back to put them down.

After the game we discussed the Havocs and came to the conclusion Predators are just Havocs but tougher and he caved within 24 hours to buy two. What this list needed was more ranged threat.

Ben V Chris – 48-83

Could the teleporting shenanigans of the GK make the most of the more static armoured division on this mission? Could Chris suffer his first loss of the league? No to both – shame on you Ben.

I think too many objectives to hold effectively to actually maximise primary hurt the GK here and I am hearing rumours Ben might cave to the skew and run 5 Dreadknights – I hope this is true, until I have to play them.

The GK did cause some decent casualties into Chris’ Guard but, even with Dev Wounds, there was too much hull to crack.

Rob V – Gary – 46-100

I looked over after T1 and 3 dogs were dead, seemed like a genuinely positive start from Rob. Looked over T3 and almost all the Admech were dead. Less positive.

It was always going to be a brutal match up for Rob’s list. If he had 18 breachers I think it is a winnable, if bloody affair. But Knight of Shades makes it near impossible to protect key assets and, if you only have 1 of those, its likely going to die quick sharp.

Due to the generally abysmal state of Admech Rob asked if he could use some Legends datasheets. He told me the stat lines and they seemed fine so OK’d it, although pretty confident he left some key shit out that will make me regret this later. But I have already played him so who gives a shit.
