Gamesweek 1 is complete – some people lost, some people won, fun was had by all (except maybe Rob).Today I am going to look at the match ups and how they went as well as compare the results to my predictions. I will do a summary of the Casual games already played tomorrow.

Chris V Leo – 100-38

A victory for the forces of the Imperial Guard against a dastardly shooty CSM list. From what I know of it the Forgefiends weren’t quite hidden enough and Chris was able to pick one up T1, alongside a unit of Havocs, putting a big dent in Leo’s ability to clap back effectively. It was all over end of T3.Purge the Foe was a good mission for Chris – much easier to pick up CSM units than be killed in return. Leo had more opportunity for secondaries with Targets of Opportunity but it doesn’t look like he was able to bring this to bear and was left with the echoes of laughing warp gods.I guessed 80-40 to Chris so I was in the right ball park and I will consider this 100% accurate.

Rob V Sam – 50-100

This started pretty poorly for the boys in gold – whole squad wiped out T1 mostly by fucking Skitarii…this does not compute. This left poor Inquisitor Draxus without her bodyguard and running about like a headless chicken for several turns. In keeping with my complete lack of ability to use a Callidus correctly she was also murdered T1 (how does one even manage that??). Added to the fact I drew three unscorable secondaries and Rob scored 2/3 made for pretty grim reading at the end of the first battle round.Big E had a quiet psychic word with the boys start of T2 though – “Come on lads, it’s Admech”. The banana boys realised it might be a bit all or nothing here so I fell back onto my tried and true tactic of murdering everything with reckless abandon.Wardens and Allarus killed three Warglaives, spear shooting cleared a Skitarii unit, Guard unit made a long charge into more Skitarii, murdered them and consolidated into the Breachers just behind, mitigating their shooting capabilities going forward. Trajann did boring things slowly poking a transport to death. The Breachers though, we need to talk about them – consolidating into them allowed them to punch me first, killing only one shield boy – acceptable losses and sadness for Rob. Everything else shot at the same Guard block, reducing it to one sad Banana, but one sad Banana is still a dangerous Banana. Resurrecting one, falling back onto Capture Enemy and getting overwatched by the Breachers…making 10/12 3+ saves and winning the game T3. Wardens, Trajann and Allarus about to close in and murderise the breachers put it beyond doubt.Respect to Rob for trying to mad Admech work without just falling back to the triple breachers list but I think it is a tough job. Also those stupid Chickens are absurd for 50 points – does anything else in the game offer this much utility for 50 points?I predicted a 90-80 win on this one so I at least got the outcome right.

Harry V Gary – 78-100

A meeting of mental giants. A clash of kings. The atmosphere at legion was thick with palpable sexual tension.Things started well for Harry (surprising everyone) and Gary had proclaimed the game over by the end of T2, losing the Lancer and failing to kill Maggy. Not that Gary is a man prone to hyperbole of course.5 doggies managed to right the ship and slowly degrade the Tsons beyond repair pulling victory from the jaws of defeat. This allowed the universe to return to the correct timeline as a victory for Harry might have drastically affected causality. As always though Harry bore it with a willing smile and makes him a pleasure to play.

I guessed a victory for Gary but at 80-50 meaning I underestimated both of them and for that I am eternally apologetic.

Tony V Ben – 100-76

Rounding out the 4th 100-X for the gamesweek Tony “Nightscythe” Kirby brought the undying pain for Ben’s stalwart Knights. The sheer number of bodies for the Necrons must have made it a nightmare for the GK to have any use out of their army ability but they still posted a respectable 76 – Tony’s mass of teleporting, resurrecting models is the army I most fear in the league.

I don’t know the ins and outs of how this game panned out but a comfortable looking first outing for the Necrons.I guessed 90-60 here so 4/4 for outcomes and not far off the margins of victory. I’m basically a psyker.
