Try Hard Transfer Day!

So this week was the only time people in the Try Hard League can make any adjustments to their lists so I thought I would write a little one about what they have done. Not only this but I timed it to perfectly align with the quarterly MFM so there are wholesale points changes to take into account. I did this on purpose and it wasn’t a happy accident.

Tony – Necrons

Turns out taking mostly off meta stuff means the MFM didn’t make too much difference to T-Dawg. Dropped his flayed ones and added a Plasmancer and left it at that. Easy peasy. The Night Scythe continues it’s reign of terror.

Chris – Guard

A man who has been itching to change from the Baneblade to Stormsword, since before the first dice had been rolled, finally gets his wish. The Stormsword forces Deadly Demise on a 4+ I believe so keep your lads away from your tanks!

The Basilisk’s also jumped in price, while the Leman Russ’ all dropped, so he has switched them out for even more direct dakka. The lack of something dropping my move, advance and charge would have been simply lovely in my game against him. Cunt.

Harry – Tsons

Harry continues to amaze us – after getting his first win with the current list he immediately throws in a Forgefiend and Brigand (it started as a Maulerfiend before I questioned his sanity directly). I guess tanks were starting to annoy him – the Monolith and Chris’s army perhaps? Frankly I think it is a terrible choice and I told him as much but Harry gonna do Harry things.

Leo – CSM

After my game with Leo we discussed possible ways to upgrade his list as the Noise Marines/Lucius and Chosen/Bile just didn’t do the thing his list was missing – sturdy objective holders with some melee output. I suggested some Predators to replace the Havocs as their output is marginally different and much tougher. Combine that with Vindicators droppings a sexy 15 points Leo was off to market and immediately acquired two Preds and a Vindicator. Amazing stuff. Now all he needs to do is chuck some termies or plaguebearers in there for some decent OC/Toughness.

But this was not to be. Leo had other plans in mind. Drop the Havocs? Don’t be absurd! Add the three tanks and keep the Havocs? Abso-fucking-lutely. The man is a fucking lunatic.

He did add some Legionaries and Plaguebearers but is now sporting THREE units of Havocs, THREE Forgefiends and Three Dakka Hulls (2 Preds, 1 Vindicator). This army can shoot! Not sure what else it does but, by god, does it shoot.

Me – Custodes

It is time to embrace the Codex and pretend the Index never existed else that way madness lies.

We lost fights first, revive models, sticky obj, +1 W hulls/monsters, -1 damage and -1 to hit stance as well as the Dev wound protection. It’s all going to be fine right?

We do have the Golden Waaagh now – one round of critting on 5s and +1 AP as well has an enhancement that allows 2 redploys after T1 is rolled. The enhancement is filth.

As my brain is quite smooth I have decided to lean into these two things with gusto and finally have a reason to get my Venatari on the board en masse. 800 points of free redeploy and free Rapid Ingress sounds saucy. Add in a couple of Caladius, I can now give Sus1, that I can redeploy if I get T1 and I will probably muddle through. Then some boys to bring up the rear.

Ben – Grey Knights

With a small hike in points for the Dreadknights Ben’s faith in the mechanised wrath bringers has wavered. He returns to his much loved Castellen Crow and Purifier brick to melt any infantry it teleports near to a pile of goo on the floor.

I’m gonna get murderd when I play Ben.

Rob – Admech

Still bravely fighting the good fight and refusing the call of 18 Breachers Rob has made a few changes, leaning more into the swarm and some decreased prices on tanks. In his words:“Main changes are I’ve dropped the kastalens because even with the point drop they got they just don’t perform for their points, dropped the Armigers in favour of proper admech tanks, with the point drops they got they might be useable idk, again just testing stuff again, and then theirs the hoplites because I love them, no idea how well they will perform.”
