Morning gentlefolk and ladychaps, Chief Wrangler here for your monthly update on all things Hobby Henchmen and plenty to talk about!

Expanding Size

Don't worry we aren't leaving the comfortable bosom of Lisa and Broad Oak but since the start of the month we have sold out several times and therefore have been working on fitting more tables in without sacrificing physical space around each table. We believe having 360 degree access to your table is super important and won't change our minds on that.

We have worked out spacing to get three more full tables on the main floor by utilising some of the space on the wider parts of the hall and turning them ninety degrees. In additional to this I think one or two could fit on stage, which would get us to twenty tables. We have only bought two more boards currently but they are easy to acquire so if needed we can accommodate up to forty people!

This has been helped not just by the mainstay 40k players but the increasing number of AoS games we have going on, which is great to see happening! Thank you everyone for helping us make this successful!

Games Workshop Tournament Organiser Programme

Hobby Henchmen is now officially part of the TO Programme with Games Workshop, which comes with multiple and growing benefits. This does apply to all GW games but at this point is most applicable to 40k.

We now have a direct line to their community team and they seem really responsive.

GW game tournaments are now weighted more heavily in global rankings for Hobby Henchmen.

We have access to free prizes for our tourneys - they gave us three Codex codes of players choices for the upcoming GT.

We can be chosen to try out newly published games with free sets.

This is great news for drawing people to our events and who doesn't love free stuff!

Specialist Games Night

We have floated this idea a few times and know people are interested - it is something we definitely want to do, but there are a few roadblocks that we must overcome to get there.

The idea here is a second evening in the week that is focused on board games, card games etc - things outside the usual wargaming on Tuesday nights.

We can't currently get another regular night at Broad Oak due to other regular clubs/meetings etc they have, which means paying their one off night fees a month or so ahead of time and this is three times the cost of our Tuesday nights. This means the night has to be equally as busy as Tuesdays or we have to increase the price of the specialist games night.

The aim for these nights is just to break event but I don't think it will be as popular as Tuesdays and we also don't want to charge three times the ticket price for this! We think it would start around £8-£10 per person and we can adjust it down quickly if it proves popular.

It would also have to be on a Monday as no other night has regular free evenings at Broad Oak.

Chris and I will pick a Monday in the next month or so for the inaugural Specialist Games Night and based on the popularity of it we can look at regularity and pricing.

Heresy, AOS and Necromunda Terrain

Thank you to Mr Weir who donated several boxes of NON L-SHAPED terrain to the club. I have sorted through it an allocated three boxes that I think covers an approximate tables worth for Heresy/Necromunda/Trench Crusade and run it past both Will and Ben W for those games - they seem to have given it the thumbs up, which is great news!

This doesn't mean we wouldn't produce more it just takes the pressure off Chris and his early death through fume inhalation. I would suggest it gets used for a few games and sorted for any pieces that are no good. We can then fill the boxes with additional stuff.

Chris has also been steadily adding terrain for the AOS tables as well as a temporary donation from Joe so it seems that we are about right for that but I know nothing here and if you need more just keeping poking Craig, who in turn will poke me, who in turn will poke Chris.

Upcoming GT

We have the clubs first GT for 40k on the 8th and 9th of March and I can't wait. We still have a few tickets left, I think mostly because the South Coast GT is later in the month and some people just lack commitment :P.

Having 26/30 sold is still great news for us and means we can run more in future for sure.

We have more goodies than ever to give away as well:

A single mini of choice from some great sculptors.

Best Painted and Best Sports trophies.

1st, 2nd and 3rd place trophies.

Three Codex codes to be won.

Crusade Kick Off

After the successful kick off of the AOS league, by Craig, Chris has taken the reins on embarking on the narrative 40k Crusade. Starting at 500 points and slowly raising it by 250 per games week should mean some fun and bonkers stuff continues to happen there. Looking forward to it!

Social Media Engagement

I am sure some of you have seen a daily post on our FB goes up around 5pm-7pm in the evening with various themes. It is always helpful for us growing the club to work within the confines of the social media overlords and their algorithms so if you see a post, a comment or like is nice to have. Plus it helps validate me emotionally.
