Casual league Fixtures Announced

So with the league just about to start, and some hounding from Tony, the fixture lists are available for all to see.

I will look at the Try Hard week 1 fixtures and lists in a separate post.

Casual League

Starting with lots of people’s favourite – Luke (Votann). He avoids playing Brett(Nids) and Joel(DG). I think avoiding Brett is probably a nice result as he was a few people’s wild card choice. It’s also quite possible the number of xenos bodies on the board would be more than the space dwarves would be able to clear whilst also scoring. I’m not so familiar with the DG matchup but with a 57% WR for Votann into DG I feel like Joel came out the winner here.

Next up is Ed (Tau), who avoids Philip (CSM) and James (SM). This really depends on how bonkers a list Ed decides to bring this time round but I think avoiding things like Shalaxi and other gribblies is probably a nice result for Ed. If James brings a balance SM list I think he would be favourite in this matchup but if he brought his mechanised division the lack of invuls would be a delicious tasty dinner for railguns.

Philip jinks Ed, as discussed above, and Richard’s Eldar. Richard is a fucking wildcard in this though – great army but no one knows if he will just bring 100 guardians to the table and make laser sounds.

James misses Ed’s Tau, as mentioned already, and Karl’s Orks. I think Karl’s Orks may be quite scary if he runs something similar to his early days in the last league – very tough, very choppy, very fast. I would be glad to avoid that.

Ben J, a new chap to the fold, is playing Ultramarines and is skipping Brett and Karl. I think Ben could have a good crack into the Nids but avoiding the snagga boyz will be a great result.

Joel, our resident plaguemaster, is avoiding Luke, as above, and Andy (Ultras). If Andy brings his all dreadnaught list (which I sincerely hope he does) then anyone not drawn against him will be thrilled they don’t have to figure out a way to manage that.

Brett and his many little gribblies will skip Votann and Ben’s Ultras. I reckon he would have wanted a crack at Luke after losing to him in the last league but it was not meant to be. I am certain he would have also much preferred to avoid any mechanised list but no luck there.

Richard. Let’s talk about Richard. The hardest meta chaser and gameyest fucker at Legion and somehow convinced me to let him into the casual league. Such a sweet talker. He avoids CSM and Dreadnaughts. If any army can pick up 9 dreads and dance away from them its Eldar but no idea if he will take the units that do that.

Karl skips James and Ben but to be honest I think the Beast Snagga list can run well into anything here so I expect to see the boyz eating well most weeks.

Andy is rumoured to be bringing 9 dreadnaughts to the table and the only thing I don’t love about it is that he is managing it before I do, although mine will be pink and therefore infinitely cooler. He avoids Joel and Richard, both discussed above.Good luck to you all!
