Today I am thrilled to introduce your voted for Best Sports player, Andy, for a guest article summarising his experience in the league. Take it away beautiful…

My thoughts on the league

Game 1: ‘Blue on blue’Game

2: ‘Those damn dwarves’Game

3: ‘Nids surprise’Game

4: ‘Startling Sternguard’Game

5: ‘I’m in the wrong place’Game

6: ‘A gentleman’s accord’Game

7: ‘Sod the Primaris’

Well what an excellent league! We had some very very good players! I enjoyed all my games, but special mentions have to go to ‘2 Redemptors in 2 minutes’ Luke with his delightful dwarves. I think he went through every player like a door – and my goodness I don’t think I’ve ever come up against a list as efficient at murdering things as his. quite the game! To be fair it doesn’t help that he’s such a nice guy. A pleasure to lose too.

Another honourable mention is Brett. I was surprised to learn that he didn’t do so well after our game. I was very impressed with his game play, he’d clearly really thought about his list, what he wanted it to do and how he wanted it to behave. I loved the fact that he was dropping spore mines here there and everywhere to limit my movement, whilst bringing on indeterminate tank busty things from strat reserves to blow me away with.

And David. David, David, David. Definitely my favourite game, the very definition of two armies going hammer and tongues at each other – to the point that we quite literally fought each other to a standstill with an 81-81 score. Excellent game, moves and counter moves and a true gentleman to play against.

Other honourable mentions go to Matt and his dark angels, another well engineered list, and one that directly lead to me picking up 10 Sternguard vets, Ben J with his 3rd company Ultramarines – a literal blue on blue incident. Phil with his cheeky little Black Legion list, I was very surprised at winning that game actually, as by T2 it was really not looking good for me (Thought the Alpha was the Omega). I thoroughly enjoyed our firstborn off with James, as two battle companies basically went for each other, that was a very balanced game that again, could have swung either way.

I was pleased I placed fourth, within the top 5 that I’d wanted, and also at the quality of my opponents – all gentlemen who played thoughtfully and well.

A pleasure.

Looking forward to the next one!
